[TechWorld News = Reporter Jisung Park] On November 4, the 2023 Korean Stem Cell and Tissue Regeneration Society Autumn Symposium was held at Songbong Hall, Chung-Ang University.

Amid growing academic interest in stem cell therapy, sparked by the Ministry of Health and Welfare’s Directive No. 2023-128 (July 11, 2023), which recognizes intra-articular injection of concentrated bone marrow aspirate for knee osteoarthritis as a new medical technology, the symposium featured sessions on advanced topics such as stem cell exosomes for degenerative arthritis and iPSC cell therapy.

Innovative Stem Cell Extraction Kits

REV-MED presented its innovative kit for extracting bone marrow stem cells. The kit features:

  • Bone Marrow Filter: Removes impurities during the injection process.
  • Dual Centrifugation Process:
    • First centrifugation eliminates red blood cells.
    • Second centrifugation produces highly concentrated bone marrow stem cells.
  • Three-Chamber Design: Enhances functionality and positions the kit for global markets.

REV-MED holds over 15 related patents, underscoring its technological leadership.

Pioneering Research and Global Aspirations

A REV-MED representative noted, “Our research on stem cell markers, proliferation potential, differentiation abilities, and gene expression in differentiated cells was published in the Annals of Translational Medicine in 2020, well before this technology was officially recognized.”

The representative added, “Continuous research on intractable diseases at our stem cell research center ensures that Korea’s stem cell therapy technology is grounded in solid evidence, providing a competitive edge for global market expansion.”

REV-MED’s technology is the only domestic product approved by Japan’s Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare (JFDA) and China’s National Medical Products Administration (NMPA). The company is also pursuing FDA registration in the U.S., aiming to bring Korea’s proprietary technology to one of the world’s most advanced healthcare markets.
