On Sunday, November 26, the 2023 Golf Medicine Symposium, hosted by the Korean Society of Sports Medicine and co-organized by the Korean Golf Medicine Research Association, was held at the Sports Culture Research Building of Seoul National University.

The symposium aimed to share academic insights into treating golf injuries and managing athletes, attracting over 200 physicians, golf instructors, and players. Alongside the discussions, 15 medical devices were exhibited, including REV-MED’s advanced RM-152.

RM-152: Advanced Stem Cell Therapy for Golf Injuries

REV-MED presented RM-152, a medical device designed for injecting concentrated bone marrow stem cells into the knee joint cavity. This innovative technology complies with Ministry of Health and Welfare Directive No. 2023-128 (July 11, 2023).

Key features of RM-152 include:

  • Bone Marrow Filter: Removes impurities during extraction.
  • Dual Centrifugation Process:
    • First centrifugation eliminates red blood cells.
    • Second centrifugation concentrates stem cells and other functional cells.

This system is part of REV-MED’s stem cell technology portfolio, aiming to deliver precise and effective regenerative treatments.

A New Alternative for Sports Injuries

A REV-MED representative stated, “Autologous stem cell therapy provides a promising alternative for treating sports injuries. It not only aids in recovery from surgeries but also reduces the need for invasive procedures depending on the severity of the injury.”

They added, “REV-MED operates a dedicated cell research center to validate the efficacy of stem cell therapy. With over 10 published papers on tissue regeneration, we aim to intensify our research efforts to support the performance and well-being of Korea’s elite golf athletes.”
