The Korean Orthopedic Association successfully held its Spring Academic Conference on the 30th at the Crystal Ballroom on the 2nd floor of the Lotte Hotel in Sogong-dong.
The conference featured a variety of lectures covering the latest insights in the field of orthopedics, along with exhibition booths introducing related medical technologies and devices.
Among the exhibitors, REV-MED, a company leading the field of minimally manipulated biological extraction technologies, attracted significant attention from medical professionals through its exhibition booth.
At the exhibition, REV-MED showcased its proprietary technologies, TriCell and NovaStem, while introducing cell concentration processes utilizing autologous blood, an area of growing interest in orthopedics following the approval of intra-articular PRP injections for knee joints as a new medical technology last December.
During Session B in the lecture hall, Professor Jun-Ho Kim of Hallym Sacred Heart Hospital delivered a lecture titled “PRP Treatment Can Also Be Applied to Knee Osteoarthritis,” sharing the latest insights into PRP (Platelet-Rich Plasma) therapy for knee osteoarthritis.
The PRP treatment discussed in the session targets patients with KL Grade 2–3 knee osteoarthritis and involves concentrating platelets extracted from the patient’s own blood before injecting them into the affected joint area. This approach presents a differentiated alternative to conventional treatment methods.
Because the treatment utilizes autologous blood, it offers the advantage of reducing the likelihood of immune rejection reactions and side effects.
